Volume #218: RustFed - Voracious

December 12th 2025

Greetings my fellow Heavy Metal enthusiasts. It is I, Z.M. Delgado, and I am back with a fresh new album to discuss. It is with great pleasure that I get the opportunity to introduce you to the new album by RustFed: “Voracious.” Hailing from Cleveland, OH, RustFed is some kind of Heavy! Their style is a powerful blend of Death Metal and Death Core giving way to devilishly delightful results. Before I tell you any more, there are a few tracks I want to discuss…

The first song I need to shout out is “Abyss of Nothingness.” This track is brutal and a supremely worthy choice for the opening slot. This song starts with a cool ass riff, setting an eerie atmosphere right from the get go. The Drums come in thunderous and are followed shortly by the Vocals and a new crushing riff. Steady and plodding is the tempo as the song destroys the listeners eardrums one chord at a time.

Next I want to discuss “Platonic Smile.” This one opens fast and driving. It kicks off with a cracking Drum roll and blasts off with a cutting riff. The Vox come in guttural and raw, riding waves of intense percussion all the while. When the speed finally does break down, it does so in cataclysmic fashion. The Drums thunder under absolutely demonic roars that utterly grind your ears into dust.

The last track I want to shout out is the album closer, “Quicksand.” This song is a sonic meat grinder. An auditory explosion. A musical annihilator and it is nothing if not intense. Powerful and passionate, “Quicksand” is all the best that this album has to offer. All the aspects of the bands songwriting and style come together here and form a perfect storm of Metal. I feel like it is the culmination of the entire album. One final all encompassing blast, to devastate anything that still stands... also worth mentioning is the very impressive guitar solo skills which lead up to the songs climactic finale.

So ultimately we come down to it. Without dancing around the issue, I have to tell you this is an album that I really enjoy. More than that however is the simple fact that it crushes! It is a Juggernaut. A Titan. It is a Beast. Plain and simple, this is a record that goes straight for the throat and never lets go. It is raw and unapologetic in it’s heaviness. The Bass is bottomless and punishing. There is a savage aspect to the Guitar style that is jagged and often jarring in its aggression. The Percussion is all consuming, hard hitting and precise. It is also not necessarily a straight forward affair, and these are no basic rhythms. The Drummer lays out complex patterns, intricate fills and I love the power behind it all. Vocally it is monstrous. With Vox that reside purely within the animal realm; they are purely bestial. Growls, snarls and screams all appear in abundance and are used with a masterful application. There are textures to the Vocals, layering the intensity and adding great depth to the sound. The song writing is unique and highly skilled, creating a powerful product. In the end the result is a powerhouse collection. I highly recommend this album, especially if you are a fan of crushing chords and nasty ass Vocals. Check out RustFed live and help them celebrate the release of the album at Musica on Saturday, December 13th 2025. (51 East Market St., Akron, OH 44308)

Until next time, Rock on, Rustbelt,
