Release date: March 29th, 2024

Maggot Stomp

Good evening my friends and welcome back to another edition of wildly popular Heavy Metal periodical better known as the Rustbelt Rock Review. Tonight’s installment actually began to take form several weeks back when I bumped into Dylan and Chris from Mutilation Barbecue at a show at No Class. We shot the shit and over the course of that shit shooting I convinced them to bestow upon me a mighty gift indeed: That new Muti BBQ. An album that is long overdue and highly anticipated, “Amalgamations of Gore” is set for release March 29th. I’ve had quite a few weeks to chew on it myself now and I have to tell you it is a tasty chunk of meat to be sure. A blend of OSDM and Brutal DM are essentially at the heart of the style, yet there is more going on here. There are hints of Thrash Metal and touches of Groove Metal woven into the sound. This is evident in the surprising amount of melody the album holds. This blend of styles makes for a fairly unique listen that is more interesting than the average Death Metal act. “Amalgamations of Gore” shows some serious teeth from note one and it keeps them bared for the entirety of its run time. The first thing that stood out to me was the Drums. I love the overall recording sound; particularly the snare tone. Also, and more importantly, I love the play. The Drumwork is exceptional, complex and powerful. The Guitar is also impressive. It plows forward like a mechanized murder machine; riff after nasty riff shredded for your satisfaction. The Bass rumbles and groans beneath it all, adding a deep thunder to the sound. Finally there are the Vocals, which are monstrous. They dive deep into the depths of the Death Metal seas and dredge up horrors from down below. You won’t find a more oppressive Vocal presence anywhere.

So what does all that mean? Well, to boil it down to the bare bones I’ll tell you I love it… I mean I fucking love it. This album absolutely slaps, from front to back. It is nine songs of Death Metal perfection that I can’t get enough of. The entire album is so good that I can’t really do my normal “stand out tracks,” because to me they all stand out. That being said I will give you my favorites, just for fun.

The opening number “Amalgamations of Gore/Skin Display” is pretty amazing. It starts out with some creepily murderous samples which then gives way to an absolute onslaught of sound. It is intense and powerful and a little scary… but most of all it absolutely Rocks. This song opens the album up like a hurricane and there is no looking back.

For sure my favorite cut from the record is “Xenomorphic Organ Rearrangement.” This song also starts with a horror sample which then gives way to a killer riff. It goes on to develop into a bonafide spine splitter of a Death Metal composition. I want to say more about this track, but I know my words will only fall short. You’ll just have to listen to this one for yourself, and hear just how hard it goes.

“Carcass Compost” has some dope Bass at the beginning and some incredible Guitar work at it’s end. In between we are treated to some savage roars and some very interesting drum patterns. In the world of headbangers, this song is 100% capable of snapping your neck.

Finally “Lady Next Door” is a hard driving ripper that is packed with speed and aggression. That being said, I can’t act as if the song doesn’t have a breakdown that slams on the brakes; slowing things down to glacial speeds.

In closing… All in all I consider this record to be about a solid as stone and a must listen to all Death Metal aficionados. Don’t sleep on that new Muti BBQ!!! Keep your horns in the air as you rock the new Mutilation Barbecue and as always thanks for reading.
